About Proteus's Compass Publishers
Proteus's
Compass Publishing is a small, independent publishing enterprise. Proteus's Compass
publishes titles on topics of interest to the general reader.
Proteus was the Greek god of knowledge. Homer in Odyssey describes that Proteus knew every inch of the bottom of the sea, and that those who followed his course could find their way home safely. The problem with Proteus was that he was an elusive god, and disguised himself from those who sought him.
The mission of Proteus's Compass is to point the way for people as they live as both individuals and members of a social community. We do this by publishing selective works that explore human beings and the human condition. We believe that an essential feature of the human condition is the promise of redemption from defeat. We publish books on a not-for-profit basis, with proceeds benefiting institutions that serve disadvantaged children and young adults.
Although we mostly solicit manuscripts by invitation, we are interested in hearing from writers who might fit into our program.
Proteus's Compass is a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association.
